\n A few know that actually VEDAN KOLOD is a family band. This way Tatiana and Daryana were singing since their childhood with their grandparents some ancient folk songs, then Tatiana met Valera who was making folk instruments and VEDAN KOLOD was born the way you know it now.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

– Comment Vedan Kolod est il n\u00e9 ?<\/strong><\/span>
Assez peu le savent mais en fait Vedan Kolod est un groupe familial . Tatiana et Daryana chantaient depuis leur enfance avec leurs grands-parents d\u2019anciennes chansons folkloriques, plus tard Tatiana a rencontr\u00e9 Valera qui r\u00e9alisa<\/span><\/span>it des instruments folkloriques. C\u2019est ainsi que Vedan Kolod est n\u00e9 tel que vous le connaissez maintenant .<\/span>

-What are your sources of inspiration ? <\/span><\/strong>
\n Are there any particular artists that inspire you ?<\/strong> <\/span>
\n Artists – no. Only our ancestors, our grandparents, our parents and Russian folk and musical culture of course which isn’t known well and there are still soooo many thing to learn about. We all are inspired by Russian culture and nature, myths and legends.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

– Quelles sont vos sources d’inspiration ?<\/span><\/strong>
Y at-il des artistes en particulier qui vous inspirent ?<\/span><\/strong>
Des artistes \u2013 Non, pas du tout . Seuls nos anc\u00eatres , nos grands-parents , nos parents, le folklore et la culture musicale russe (tr\u00e8s m\u00e9connus) il nous reste encore tellement d\u2019autres choses \u00e0 apprendre . Nous sommes tous simplement inspir\u00e9s par la nature et la culture russe, les mythes et l\u00e9gendes .<\/span>

-The mix between the musical instruments and the voices seems sounds like medieval or shaman music. Is it a voluntary choice ?<\/strong> <\/span>
\n If so, why have you made this choice ? We’re from Siberia. it’s cold and a mystic place. it’s own native land that’s why shaman Siberian styles are very close to us. Saying the truth, we can’t say that we particular follow some genre… when we started in deep woods in Siberia we hadn’t Internet (we’re almost 10 years old now!) and just played what we loved to play and sing. As I told you before – at the beginning we didn’t, you know, invite people to joing our band. It just happened naturally. We’re two sisters and sang together, that’s why we have this traditional way to sing our songs, Valera loves making new mediaval instruments (most of them were forbidden in Russia after 17 century because of the religion), folk instrumetns from different countries, he runs his own musical workshop. Sometimes we sing our own composition but arranged as folk, sometimes – real ancient folk songs. Our last album \u00ab\u00a0The Tale of Igor’s Campaign\u00a0\u00bb was the ancient text which we read and sang. A new one, Gorodische, which we will present on March 15 in Moscow has almost everything we have so far – throat singing, folk songs, medieval instruments, Siberian instruments, ancient texts, due singing and etc.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

– Le m\u00e9lange entre les instruments de musique et les voix font penser \u00e0 de la musique m\u00e9di\u00e9vale ou chamanique .
\nEst-ce un choix volontaire ? <\/span><\/strong>Si oui, pourquoi avez-vous fait ce choix ?<\/strong> <\/span>
Nous venons de la Sib\u00e9rie. C\u2019est un lieu froid et mystique. C\u2019est notre terre natale et c\u2019est pourquoi le style sib\u00e9rien chamanique est si proches de nous. Pour dire la v\u00e9rit\u00e9, on ne peux pas dire que nous suivons un genre … Lorsque nous avons commenc\u00e9 au fond des bois en Sib\u00e9rie nous n’avions pas Internet (cela fait presque 10 ans maintenant ! ) et nous jouions ce qu\u2019on aimait jouer et chanter. Comme je vous l’ai d\u00e9j\u00e0 dit – au d\u00e9but nous n’avons pas, vous le savez, invit\u00e9 les gens \u00e0 rejoindre notre groupe. Cela c\u2019est fait tr\u00e8s naturellement. Nous sommes deux s\u0153urs et chantons ensemble , c’est ce qui nous donne cette fa\u00e7on traditionnelle de chanter nos chansons , Valera aime faire de nouveaux instruments m\u00e9di\u00e9vaux (la plupart d’entre eux ont d’ailleurs \u00e9t\u00e9 interdits en Russie apr\u00e8s le 17 e si\u00e8cle en raison de la religion) , ou des instruments folkloriques de diff\u00e9rents pays, et il dirige \u00e9galement son propre atelier musical . Parfois nous chantons nos propres compositions, mais arrang\u00e9es pour que ce soit folk, parfois – des vraies chansons folkloriques anciennes. Notre dernier album \u00ab\u00a0L\u2019histoire de la campagne d’ Igor \u00a0\u00bb \u00e9tait un texte ancien que nous avons lu et chant\u00e9 . Le nouveau, Gorodische , que nous pr\u00e9senterons le 15 Mars \u00e0 Moscou comporte presque tout ce que nous avons fait \u00e0 ce jour – le chant de gorge, des chansons folkloriques , des instruments m\u00e9di\u00e9vaux , instruments de Sib\u00e9rie , des textes anciens , du chant dual etc<\/span>

-For our listeners, could you quote some of your favorite lyrics ?<\/strong> <\/span>
\n In Russian – of course)))) In English it’s quite difficult. One of the song \u00ab\u00a0The Birch\u00a0\u00bb tells about the birch (female symbol) are the oak tree (male symbol) who are divided by the sea (water). She’s calling for him but he can’t come closer. But if you listen to this song… it’s full of symbols and it’s difficult to understand even for Russian listeners sometimes. Other song is about a young guy who is walking down the village street and thinks that girls don’t like him. My favourite song is from the new album called \u00ab\u00a0Witch\u00a0\u00bb, it’s traditional Siberian song which tells about a boy who went to the forest alone on the Kupala’s holiday (Summer Solistice) and was caught by the Witch, she cooked him and invited her friends to a party.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

– Pour nos auditeurs , pourriez-vous citer quelques-unes de vos paroles pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9es ?<\/span><\/strong>
En russe – bien s\u00fbr) ) ) ) En anglais, c\u2019est assez difficile . Une des chansons \u00a0\u00bb Le bouleau \u00a0\u00bb raconte comment le bouleau (symbole f\u00e9minin ) et le ch\u00eane (symbole masculin ) sont divis\u00e9s par la mer ( l’eau ) . Elle l\u2019appelle, mais il ne peut pas se rapprocher . Mais si vous \u00e9coutez cette chanson … elle est pleine de symboles et elle est difficile \u00e0 comprendre, m\u00eame pour les auditeurs russes . Une autre chanson parle d’un jeune homme qui marche dans la rue du village et pense que les filles ne l’aiment pas . Ma chanson pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9e du nouvel album est intitul\u00e9e \u00a0\u00bb sorci\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb , c’est une chanson traditionnelle de Sib\u00e9rie qui parle d’un gar\u00e7on qui est all\u00e9 dans la for\u00eat seul pendant les vacances de la Kupala (Solistice d\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9) et a \u00e9t\u00e9 captur\u00e9 par la sorci\u00e8re , qui le cuisine et invite des amis \u00e0 elle pour faire la f\u00eate .<\/span>

-Is there hope for us to see you touring in Europe one day ?
\nMaybe this year ?<\/strong> <\/span>
\n Have no idea… Right now we’re planning a small tour in Eastern Europe but political situation right now is kind of shitty so… it’s difficult to plan anything right now<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

– Y at-il un espoir pour nous de vous voir en tourn\u00e9e en Europe un jour? Peut-\u00eatre cette ann\u00e9e ?<\/span><\/strong>
Nous n\u2019en avons aucune id\u00e9e … En ce moment, nous pr\u00e9voyons une petite tourn\u00e9e en Europe de l’Est , mais la situation politique en ce moment est tr\u00e8s instable alors … il est difficile de planifier quoi que ce soit en ce moment.<\/span>

-In conclusion, can you tell us if you have any projects currently in progress ? <\/strong><\/span>
\n After presentation of Gorodische we will go on tour to Siberia. The will be working on the 7th album which will be VERY unsual for us and all dedicated to Siberian music.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
